Several species of Brazilian
hardwood have the same class A – 1 fire rating as concrete.
Ipe and Garapa are two of these species and they also display the
other most desirable qualities of premium decking – durability,
stability, resistance to splintering and beauty. Brazilian
Wood Depot can supply fire certifications for its customers upon
request. The certifications are issued specifically for the
amount and size of decking, species name, date purchased, location
of installation and customer’s name. These certifications are
non-transferable and stay with the property where the material has
been installed. Using fire rated decking on decks or
porches adds beauty, lowers construction costs and improves the
safety of the environment. Please contact your lumber yard or
reseller to obtain the fire rating certificate for the decking that
you purchase.
