Material Snapshot — Tigerwood (Muiracatiara)
Tigerwood is a dense Brazilian hardwood known for its striking grain pattern and dramatic natural color variation. It’s frequently selected for exterior applications where visual impact, durability, and long-term performance are equally important.
Common Uses
Decking, tongue-and-groove cladding, rainscreen assemblies, soffits, and architectural trim. Used in both residential and commercial projects where a bold, distinctive appearance is desired.
Appearance & Grade
Select to premium appearance with pronounced striping and minimal defects. Natural coloration features an orange to reddish-brown base with dark brown and black streaking. The background tone deepens with sun exposure, creating increased contrast over time.
Available Profiles
1×6 decking, 5/4×6 decking, tongue-and-groove, smooth, E4E, and grooved profiles. Custom milling available to support architectural and specialty applications.
Durability & Performance
Naturally resistant to rot, decay, insects, and moisture. Tigerwood’s density and hardness make it well-suited for demanding exterior environments, though color consistency is best maintained in applications with partial shade.
Origin
Harvested from managed forests in South America, primarily Brazil, with sourcing focused on material quality, consistency, and responsible forestry practices.
