Material Snapshot — Massaranduba (Brazilian Redwood)
Massaranduba is an extremely dense South American hardwood recognized for its strength, durability, and long service life. Often compared to Ipe for performance, it is well suited for exterior applications where structural integrity and longevity are critical.
Common Uses
Decking, tongue-and-groove cladding, boardwalks, piers, public spaces, and exterior trim. Used in both residential and heavy-duty commercial applications, including high-traffic environments.
Appearance & Grade
Select to premium appearance with a tight, uniform grain and very fine texture. Initial color ranges from deep red and brick tones to light brown, gradually transitioning to a darker brown with exposure. Grain pattern is subtle and smooth, developing additional character over time.
Available Profiles
1×6 decking, 5/4×6 decking, tongue-and-groove, smooth, E4E, and grooved profiles. Custom milling available for structural and architectural requirements.
Durability & Performance
Naturally resistant to rot, decay, insects, mold, and moisture. One of the hardest commercially available hardwoods, Massaranduba delivers excellent wear resistance and slip resistance, making it suitable for demanding outdoor conditions without chemical treatment.
Origin
Harvested from managed forests in South America, primarily Brazil, with sourcing focused on quality consistency and responsible forestry practices.
