Description
Authentic Coverage & Premium Porch Decking Performance
Cumaru 1×4 Tongue & Groove (actual ¾″ × 3½″ net face) provides the full-width coverage that traditional porch installations require. Unlike lighter-duty softwood or composite T&G boards that finish closer to 3″ of exposed face, this profile is milled from true 1×4 Brazilian hardwood stock, preserving the entire 3.5-inch surface even after machining. The result is a wider, more substantial porch plank with fewer seams, crisply aligned joints, and a timeless look suitable for classic Southern porches, modern architectural builds, and high-end renovations.

Cumaru Decking resource page.
Stable Narrow-Width Design for Predictable Seasonal Movement
Narrow-width Cumaru T&G experiences more controlled expansion and contraction than wider profiles, producing tighter joints and consistent seasonal gaps. Its dense, interlocked grain structure naturally resists cupping, making this profile especially reliable in humid, coastal, or moisture-variable environments where dimensional stability is essential.
Cumaru 1×4 T&G is intended for covered porches, breezeways, ventilated ceilings, and protected exterior cladding. It is not recommended for fully exposed deck surfaces.
Smooth Face, Tight Joint & Direct-to-Joist Installation
Each board features a smooth face and a flush, perfectly aligned joint with no v-grooves or micro-bevels. Installation is performed directly to joists (typically 16″ OC unless otherwise specified) using a 45° screw angle through the tongue, producing a fastener-free walking surface. For detailed fastening diagrams and technique demonstrations, consult the
Tongue & Groove Certified Installation Guide
and the
Installation Guides Hub.
Boards are offered in 6′–20′ lengths, providing layout flexibility for both restoration work and new construction.
Ideal for Historic Homes, Wraparound Porches & Coastal Architecture
Because Cumaru T&G maintains its true 3.5-inch face and offers excellent density and weather resistance, it is widely selected for historic porch restorations, coastal builds with fluctuating humidity, and premium residential or commercial porches. Low Maintenance & Long-Term Beauty
Cumaru porch decking can either be allowed to weather to a natural silver patina or maintained with periodic UV oiling to retain its warm red-brown color. For detailed cleaning, brightening, and oiling instructions tailored to dense hardwoods, see the

Maintenance Options: Rich Color or Natural Silver
Cumaru T&G porch boards require minimal maintenance. Homeowners may let the wood naturally silver or maintain the rich red-brown color with periodic cleaning and UV-protective oiling. Guidance for restoring faded surfaces, brightening the grain, and re-oiling is available in the
