  Life happened and we had not been able to clean our Garapa deck in about three years. It looked so horrible that I was worried it would never look good again. When I tell you as soon as we wet the deck and used a cleanser to get the dirt off, the wood started to immediately look good again. We couldn't believe it. It was still a little darker in color than it should be, so after watching Sam's video on cleaning a years neglected deck we bought the recommended cleaner set thinking we would need to clean it again. However, we didn't have time and had to oil it (one light coat). IT LOOKS AWESOME! More than that, the deck progressively lightened up to its natural color. WE ARE IN LOVE WITH BRAZILIAN HARDWOOD. We will never use another type of deck material EVER! It's like an extension of my indoor hardwood.

  If you're shopping for any tropical hardwood, you MUST call Brazilian Wood Depot. Their service is at par with a 5 star hotel. Their knowledge is unparalleled. And their products are the absolute best. My wood was delivered in impeccable condition. We're talking about deck boards, people, that looked like they could be installed in the living room of my house! Especially if you're unfamiliar with tropical hardwoods, you NEED to call Sam or William. They will not hard sell you (no pun intended). They will talk to you in simple terms, give you great perspective, and help you through your decision making process. This is my first time purchasing a tropical hardwood (Massaranduba). I will never consider pine, or composite for decking material again, I will only call Brazilian Wood Depot for my orders.   Loved my experience with Brazilian Wood Depot! Since I live in Atlanta I was able to go visit the warehouse in person and see all of the available wood types in person. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable; they took the time to really explain the pros and cons of each wood variety and go over care and maintenance instructions.   This is one of the best product consultation, design and shipment experiences I've had in a long time.  Knowing very little about tropical hardwoods, I called on a Thursday afternoon and reached Sam.  I texted photos of my project: replacing oak and treated pine decking and stairs on my back covered back porch.  A section exposed to the sun and rain kept rotting, so I was looking for a long-term solution.  Sam asked great questions and guided me through choices of wood species, size, layout, attachment methods and oil finishing.  He estimated the materials and sent me a detailed quote.  Additionally, I found their website to be a great resource, with helpful information and videos on so many topics related to tropical hardwoods.  I ordered my materials the next day (Friday) and they arrived on Tuesday, including connectors, screws, plugs, sealing wax and oil. The BWD has been absolutely first class to work with ... communication is prompt and detailed, material is beautiful and the packaging/banding for my shipment was the best I've ever seen.   I would give 100 stars if it was an option! Very knowledgeable staff, quick turnaround on our order, pleasant people to work with and great product! BWD was happy to help us with figuring out how much product we needed, tips on design/install and even how to clean/oil the product when the time came. We did our boat dock in Purple Heart several months ago and it looks amazing. We are using the Messmer UV deck oil to keep the dock looking beautiful while taking the weather in Florida. Our guests are amazed at the color of our dock and it looks incredible (especially in comparison to the composite docks on each side!) I am amazed at how well the temperature is regulated after sitting in the scorching Florida sun! We are able to walk around on it barefoot with worry of burning our feet. Our dog absolutely loves lounging on it daily. William delivered the product with professionalism, on time and kept in contact with the ETA.

  We live in the Chicago area and have an Ipe deck, which we love. This spring, we had a terrible experience with a painter that thought he knew how to treat ipe. After he left the deck over-oiled and blotchy, I called Brazilian Wood Depot for advice and guidance to fix the problem. I spoke to Sam, who was extremely informative and helpful. Obviously, he and the crew at BWD know their stuff. I only wish they were in the Midwest so we could use them for future projects. Thanks, Sam!   Our deck was built out of Cumaru wood from Brazilian Wood Depot. Four years later, the wood is still beautiful. After my spring clean of the deck & a fresh coat of Messmers UV Plus oil, the deck looks  like new.   My husband and I had an incredible experience working with Brazilian Wood Depot. Although we visited three other lumber yards, we ultimately decided to bring our business to BWD. We have zero regrets! From our very first consultation to our last e-mail correspondence months later, BWD has provided exceptional service and expert advice. Sam, in particular, was instrumental in our decision to purchase from BWD. Extremely knowledgeable and thorough, Sam's overall expertise in tropical hardwoods helped put us at ease, especially since we planned to build our deck ourselves. His personable and direct approach, along with his professional insight, is not only refreshing but also invaluable. Because we are local to BWD, we had our first consultation in-person. Sam took us around to look at their inventory, which is impressive in both quantity and quality. He answered all of our questions and concerns and even offered helpful tips to our project. We purchased 500 sq. ft. of Cumaru in the Champagne color, which we opted to pick-up rather than have delivered to save on costs. The pick up process was simple and efficient! In the end, it took us two months to finish our decking installation and we could not be happier with the final result. Those two months allowed us to fully appreciate working with each piece of wood as we cut, straightened, and installed each board to our preference.   5 star product and service I found BWD online and SO glad I did. I've never worked with ipe wood before but found tons of YouTube videos that Sam has made and they are SUPER helpful. Sam shipped my order within a day or 2 from Atlanta to Minnesota and it arrived without a scratch on a flatbed truck.   These guys were awesome. They rushed my shipping and it came 2-3 days before I needed. I was very impressed and how well it was packaged. The driver said it was the best crating he’s seen in the 20 yrs of delivery Wood quality was excellent. I was able to call them at any time to get answers. The cumaru wood variation was perfect.   I built a house using ipe for many features including a deck, fence gates, outdoor furniture, exterior wainscoting, and interior decor.  It is a very difficult material to work with.  My contractor misrepresented his level of experience with ipe, and did not install the decking properly.  His mistakes have resulted in unsightly (cupping and cracking) and unsafe defects which are very expensive or impossible to repair.  Sam's team at the Brazilian Wood Depot are true experts.  The "Resources" section of their website is incredibly helpful.  I recommend watching their videos to learn how to work with this costly material.  Then you will be able to test your contractor for true experience and hold them accountable for doing the work correctly.  I would have ordered the wood from BWD, but the cost of shipping across the country was too high.  Thank you, Sam and team for sharing your expertise and providing such great support.

  I admit, I was a bit wary of ordering a huge shipment of wood sight/unseen, particularly with the general quality of dimensional and natural wood these days you see at building centers. From the phone call to order, to the email confirmation, fast shipment, to receiving (what I consider two crates of GOLD), I could NOT be more pleased. Now this was a 700 sq/ft deck so it had to be sent LTL (less than load) freight, so it did take about 10-14 days to come 1000 miles. That's not bad at all on a good day, bud particularly with supply and transportation issues these days. BWD was on it! It was very obvious that my "little guy building a deck" shipment was still a true priority to them. Magnificently crated and selected Cumaru and Ipe. The quality of the shipment I received was fantastic! Now, (full disclosure), there was a snag in one of the items I received. I was crushed because I had not opened the crates for about a week due to space and time constraints and started freaking out about the hassle I (could imagine) I was going to have. I sent an email with pictures of my shipment and an explanation of the problem at about 4pm that evening (5pm in Georgia). At 7 AM (8 in Georgia),  I had a phone call from Sam himself. If you've watched any of the informational videos on YouTube from BWD, you know Sam. If you haven't watched them and you're on the fence about Brazilian hardwoods, you should. Sam has done an incredible service to his entire industry with these videos. Anyway, we spoke, he was honest and upfront, and said "Yup, we screwed up, how can we make it right?" Then..... he made it right. I had the correct guard posts in no time, and they were perfect. So refreshing, and so relieved. We all make mistakes, but these days it's getting really hard to find anyone that will admit their own and strive to make it right. Bottom line, the quality of BWDs  product, their service, and their genuine interest and investment in making sure their customers end up with the "full meal deal" was, for this guy, OUTSTANDING!!!!! Thank you Sam and all at BWD, you made my Wife's dream deck happen, with seemingly great ease. A real (refreshing) pleasure to do business with you.

  Our experience with Brazilian Wood Depot was and is exceptional!  We originally ordered our IPE wood for our deck from another company.  The material was of poor quality, delivery issues (3x's) and eventually we got it returned and our money back.  We found Sam and his Dad at Brazilian Wood Depot, and explained everything that happened.  We were not the first to have had issues and Sam guided us through their process, explained the delivery and promised us a beautiful product.  They exceeded our expectations!  The wood was delivered in a crate, no spilling in the truck, no broken pieces, no worm holes!  Their IPE quality is far superior than the other company and we are so happy that we found Sam and his Dad!!  We would recommend them and we do not recommend just anyone, only the best of the best!   IPE from Brazilian Wood Depot transformed my home! Highly recommend the Brazilian hardwood rain screen siding from Brazilian Wood Depot. Sam was awesome to work with.  The wood arrived perfectly packaged and in my case, earlier than promised.  It was also easy to install. As you can see from the photos, I covered up some of the red brick that I hated with IPE and painted the rest.  I get tons of compliments on the wood features. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  We have a 14 year old IPE deck. It’s never been cleaned. I watched the “How to” videos and  my deck looks almost new. I went into the shop to buy oil for the deck - people were friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend this place if you have any decking needs. The label on the wax cracked me up ;-)

 Verified I  went to this place to check out their Ipe wood. I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a large Brazilian wood lumber yard.They have Cumaru, Ipe, Grappa, Manduba, and Tiger Wood.All gorgeous!I ended up buying Cumaru to use for my home's siding. Sam helped me out with my selection. He  was very knowledgeable and friendly. I'd love to do another Brazilian wood project at my home, and I will be going to Brazilian Wood Depot when I do.

  We had a wonderful experience with BWD.  We are adding a deck on the back of our house made of tigerwood and ipe.  I had the displeasure of attempting to do business with one of BWD’s largest competitors.  For at least 4 months I was strung along and mislead (if not outright lied to).  I could write a novel about my frustrations with them.  I finally gave up and luckily stumbled across BWD online.  I emailed them and gave them a call and it was like a breath of fresh air.  They were actually friendly and helpful....what a novel idea.  My order was fairly complicated and they took the time to go over each and every piece with me.  The cherry on the top was when I asked how soon I could get the wood....expecting weeks, if not months.  From the time I made the call until it was delivered to my house was two weeks...and it was that long only because of the Thanksgiving holiday.  The wood was carefully packed and delivered safely to my driveway exactly when they said they would.  The quality of the wood is second to none and I can’t wait to see the finished deck.  I can definitely recommended BWP and will not hesitate to use them for future projects!

  My wife and I had been planning to add a deck to our home for the past eight years.  Our modest country home is located on ten acres in West Central Georgia literally in site of Pine Mountain ridge.  Since retiring in 2013, we began in earnest planning our deck.  Our primary objective was a deck that would require  minimum maintenance and be as durable as possible, and affordable.  We had settled on the most popular composite decking, despite the extravagant cost of materials. Our contractor voiced as an option using Brazilian hardwood decking and suggested a vendor website to allow us to begin our research.  The vendor had several mill sites in the US with the closest being in North Carolina.  They were very accommodating and sent us quotes and samples.  My research on even the best composites  made me even more skeptical as to their longterm durability.  Material cost for the best composites was 25-50% higher than the Brazilian hardwood we eventually settled on using on our 600+ sq.ft. deck with pergola.  We took advantage of the offer to drop in anytime to visit Brazilian Wood Depot in Duluth, GA, choosing this vendor over the initial one due to it being 90 miles away.  A kind staff member put us in personal contact with Mr. Sam Hoover within five minutes.  Sam was as knowledgeable, kind, patient and as accommodating with our many questions and requests as any warehouse vendor I have ever experienced.  He showed us their warehouse organization, cut us samples for decking and railing, discussed delivery options and made us very much at home.  He even removed samples stored on the roof to demonstrate fading potential since we initially favored grey decking.  We were so impressed with our hour+ visit, we knew when we left that if the price was reasonable, the Depot would be our choice of vendors.  Subsequent phone conversations on pricing and delivery with Sam’s father Eric made us even more confident in our vendor.  Within two weeks, we had selected our species of hardwood, received very professional and well documented quotes and installation instructions, and had our materials on site to begin the project. We cannot say enough positive as to the most professional and kind, accommodating service we received from everyone associated with the Brazilian Wood Depot.  This was our contractors first experience with hardwood decking using hidden clips.  They build new homes with decks using either treated pine or composite materials.  Like many homeowners, they have become less enchanted with the environmentally challenging and high maintenance treated decking.  Long-term durability issues and hot surface temps, not to mention escalating cost have made composites less attractive for the investment.  Even with the installation learning curve, they joined us in praising the finished product... both the beauty, structural integrity and promise for long-term durability. After three months of joyful use, we are pleased to say the experience of working with the Depot, the craftsmanship of our contractor and the finished results have ALL far exceeded our expectations.  I am confident as well that this business will continue to thrive in the Atlanta area and grow in more rural settings like Harris County.  Verified I purchased nearly 500 square feet (can't recall the linear feet) of Ipe just over two years ago.  I wanted 3/4 X 6 (5-1/2) in various lengths.  I wanted most of the boards grooved on both sides, some grooved only on one side and a few with no grooves.  I was very specific on which boards needed which grooves because I wanted to avoid joints in my deck.All my deck boards are at 45 degrees so I needed very specific lengths to avoid waste.  Most of the boards were 14 feet and some were as long as 20.  You can see I had a very complicated order.Eric and the crew provided precisely what I requested.  I held back one star because I had an overall odd feeling during the ordering process. The quoted prices seemed to vary depending on who I was speaking with on the phone.  However, the written quote was what I expected so in the end everything worked out okay.
